Nursery & Pre-K

Nursery & Pre-K Programme

Between 18 months and 4 years, children build the trust, language, and confidence that shape everything that follows. XWA's Nursery & Pre-K programme develops these foundations through sensory play, music, movement, and the beginnings of social interaction.

Why Early Education Matters

A strong preschool experience goes beyond early academics. It builds the foundation for how children learn, interact, and grow. During these critical early years, the right environment shapes both immediate development and long-term success.

Brain Development & Learning Readiness

Children form neural connections rapidly, and rich, hands-on experiences strengthen skills in language, memory, and problem-solving.

Language & Early Literacy

Through conversations, storytelling, and play, children develop vocabulary, comprehension, and early reading skills essential for future learning.

Social & Emotional Growth

Preschool helps children learn to share, collaborate, manage emotions, and build empathy—key for classroom engagement and relationships.

Self-Regulation & Focus

With routines and guided support, children develop attention, persistence, and the ability to follow directions and manage impulses.

Confidence & Lifelong Learning

Positive, curiosity-driven environments help children see themselves as capable learners, building motivation, resilience, and long-term success.

A Strong Foundation through Play-Based Learning

At XCL World Academy, our Nursery and Pre-K programme provides a child-centred, play-based environment where learning is shaped by exploration, relationships, and meaningful experiences. Children build essential foundations in language, social skills, problem-solving, and confidence, developing how they learn, communicate, and interact with the world around them.

Each class is guided by experienced educators who design activities around children’s interests and developmental stages. Through storytelling, role play, building, and sensory exploration, children strengthen thinking skills, creativity, and early language, while developing independence and a sense of agency through choice and discovery.

Learning extends beyond the classroom. Through outdoor exploration, children engage in movement, nature-based play, and hands-on discovery that build physical coordination, resilience, and curiosity. Daily routines and group experiences, such as circle time and collaborative play, support social development as children learn to share, take turns, and build relationships. Teachers guide them in understanding emotions, resolving conflicts, and developing empathy.

A strong focus on communication runs throughout the programme. In a language-rich environment, children engage in songs, stories, and conversations that help them express their ideas, needs, and feelings, building the confidence and skills essential for future learning.

FAQs

Get answers to the most common questions from prospective parents about our school.

What age range is the Nursery programme for?

The programme is for children aged 18 months to 3 years. Starting early gives children time to develop trust, confidence, language, and social skills in a purpose-built environment before moving into Pre-K.

How will I know what my child is doing each day?

Teachers update the Seesaw digital portfolio throughout the day with photos, videos, and notes about what your child is working on. You can also communicate directly with teachers through the app.

What are the fees for Nursery?

Visit the fees page for a full breakdown by grade.

What is the learning approach?

The approach is play-based and hands-on. Children learn through sensory exploration, music, movement, and early social interaction in both indoor and outdoor environments. At this age, play is how children make sense of the world and how they build the skills that support all later learning.

What is the teacher-to-child structure?

Each class has a qualified teacher and a teaching partner. With two adults in every room, one can lead a group activity while the other sits with a child who needs more time, comfort, or a different approach.
