Camp Details
AGES 11 TO 16 | MONDAY TO FRIDAY | 9AM TO 3PM | $850
Embark on an exciting journey at our Media Makers Camp, where participants will delve into the world of multimedia creation. This hands-on experience will empower campers to launch their own podcasts and master the art of crafting captivating YouTube videos. From content creation to editing skills, this camp is designed to unleash creativity and equip participants with the tools to become budding media mavens. Join us for a dynamic and enriching exploration of the vast realm of media making!
This camp is designed to give learners a fun, creative introduction to making videos and taking photos. Using everyday equipment like their phones, campers will learn basic production roles, experiment with creative storytelling, and even design their own backdrops—all culminating in a final showcase.
Daily Lesson Breakdown
Day 1: Introduction and Equipment Play
Objective: Familiarize students with the basic tools and roles in both video and photography.
Activities:
Role Rotation:
Video Roles: Camera operator, director, audio tech, on-camera talent.
Photography: Learn to handle cameras or smartphones, basic framing, and composition.
Hands-On Exploration: Let each student try each role and explore the equipment in a relaxed, interactive session.
Day 2: Creative Brainstorming & Theme Development
Objective: Spark creativity through storytelling and thematic exploration.
Activities:
Video
Discuss simple narrative ideas (newscast, talk show, or skit).
Brainstorm characters, simple scripts, and roles.
Photography
Introduce a fun theme (e.g., “Colors,” “Silly Faces,” or “Jumping only”)
Challenge students to think about creative shots that capture the theme.
Group Discussion: Each group shares their ideas and develops a basic storyboard or shot list.Day 3: Production Techniques & Backdrop Creation
Objective: Teach simple production and creative set design.
Activities:
Video
Demonstrate basic camera movements, framing, and recording techniques in a simple “studio” setup.Practice quick interviews or mini skits with the roles established on Day 1.
Photography
Workshop on making their own backdrop using everyday items.
Practice shooting photos with the new backdrop, exploring different angles and poses.
Hands-on Practice
Running of mini sessions where each group rehearses a short video segment and conducts a themed photo shoot.
Day 4: Rehearsals & Full Production
Objective: Put all skills together in a full production rehearsal.
Activities
Video
Full rehearsal of the planned mini-show.Rotate roles as needed, focusing on smooth transitions and recording techniques.
Photography
Conduct a complete photo session using the created backdrops and thematic ideas.
Experiment with creative lighting and different compositions.
Practice Run
Record a practice “live” show and take a series of photos to refine their work.
Day 5: Showcase!
Objective: Celebrate the week’s work with an exhibition.
Activities
Showcase of all completed best photos and videos taken throughout the camp.
Final debrief session where students share what they learned and enjoyed.
